Silence

It’s also full of the quiet huff of a dog panting to catch the prey. It’s also the silent knot in my chest throbbing when I think of trying to do this again.  To put my heart on the line.

About danielle

I am a rescue mom and school teacher. Gerry came to me from Texas, after he "failed" as a hunting dog. He had NOT had an easy life. I was three years divorced, and we saved each other. Last week I learned he has osteosarcoma. Our world feels upside down...while everyone else is right side up.

I feel like I’ll never be ready to put my heart on the line again :'(

I can completely understand, Isabella…..and then I think of the alternatives….
NEVER having my face licked, or getting to look into my dog’s eyes….
NEVER watching my dog staring out at something and getting to imagine what
      he’s thinking…
NEVER having a stranger smile as I walk him….
Too many nevers, and yet, I, like you, am still waiting for that confident feeling of, “I can do this again”. I have to believe..I DO believe, that this will shift within me and I will find canine love again. Good luck to both of us!
