I am a rescue mom and school teacher. Gerry came to me from Texas, after he "failed" as a hunting dog. He had NOT had an easy life. I was three years divorced, and we saved each other. Last week I learned he has osteosarcoma. Our world feels upside down...while everyone else is right side up.
Yes indeedy, you are a very, very strong dog! Strong and fit and so very loved! This is such a great photo, but every photo of Gerry is a great one!

Hi there, I just want to share my positive story. Our boxer Bella was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of her right front dorsal bone over 3.5 years ago. I have been where you are. Bella is one of those special dogs whose light brown eyes (not the breed standard but we love them) speak to us. When we got the diagnosis when she was only 5 yrs 6 months old we were devastated. She was too young and she was in a lot of pain. I cried buckets of tears and didn’t know what to do. The best thing we did was amputate her leg. She was a different dog almost straight away. The day after her amputation she greeted us with her beloved ball in her mouth! She has lived and had quality life for far longer than anybody ever expected. In fact just last week we had to take her to the vet physio as she has developed arthritis in her remaining front leg. We need to make some changes (harness, toe grips, regular short walks etc) and should have taken her to the physio a long time ago but initially we expected her to have a short life span and were just so happy for her to enjoy what life she had left. That is what is most important whatever you decide to do – quality of life for your very strong dog!
