MORE ticks! Be aware..

Uck and ugh!  I know that ticks are going to be bad this spring/summer, as they’re already going crazy.  I literally felt the “ouch” of one biting me behind my knee! I got it out with some YL TeaTree essential oil and a Q-tip.  That killed it, and then tweezers got the whole thing out. Some oregano and lavender oil after that and it was not stinging or itchy.   Gerry, ALSO, has a questionable rash and ring on his inner groin area that showed up this afternoon, after the tick I found earlier this week.  We have a 10:00 appointment to get the area looked at.  Let’s just hope it’s a rash and not Lymes.  Cuz he needs that, too!

About danielle

I am a rescue mom and school teacher. Gerry came to me from Texas, after he "failed" as a hunting dog. He had NOT had an easy life. I was three years divorced, and we saved each other. Last week I learned he has osteosarcoma. Our world feels upside down...while everyone else is right side up.

I know its going to be a bad year for bugs period. One of my Rotties had a reaction to a tick and swelled up and had a ring around it. I was lucky it wasn’t Lyme. Glad you are getting it checked out.

I bought some Diatomaceous Earth to throw out if it ever stops raining.

Darn ticks! Good for you getting Gerry checked out so quickly. I live in a low tick area but my vet said there’s been an increase. One of my cats hangs out with the deer in my yard so I put him on flea/tick treatment from May to Oct. I’m not keen on these treatments but have weighed the risks of fleas/ticks with a possible shorter life span. I don’t use these treatments on Mona, who had cancer, and mostly in the house or on the deck.
    I like Gerry’s new ride!

Ohhhhh geez I hope the ticks aren’t nasty. Last summer in Colorado we had such a bad tick season that this year I’ve finally gone the conventional route and put Wyatt on topical tick / heartwork medication. After eight years I caved. I’m glad you found that tick though. So scary! let us know what the vet says.

Here’s a post we recently wrote about tick season:

Thank yo for all the well wishes. The red marks have gone away, andthe vet seemed to think it could be “maybugs” or a spider bight…which make sense.. I put the Advantex on him, but want to spray his fee with tea tree oil and citronella oil. Essential Rosemary oil also works well for people after you take a tick out to stop the itching. (early on.. with no signs of body parts still there). Mother Nature loves to play games!
By the way…I am truly enjoying my new ride. Not since my 1992 Honda Civic have I not driven an SUV. I love how zippy and responsive it is. Gerry likes everything but the fact that the window glass doesn’t go ALL the way down in the back seat. He liked to put his chin on the door frame. Little does he know he ‘s lucky to HAVE a cool new ride!
