It’s late….really late, but Gerry just spit up, and I just had given him his evening dose of pills about 20 minutes ago on an empty belly. He got sick two days ago in the am, but not yesterday, so I was hoping that it was a fluke. It got warm out, and I thought he licked at something that upset his stomach, (not to mention the four ticks crawling on him…but of course my natural reaction is to blame the meds. Sighhhhhh. We were JUST about to go to bed; he hopped up on his bed and quickly spit up, not the usual stomach wrenching sound….I gave him 1/2 of his upset stomach pills, and he’s fallen asleep, but I don’t want to anymore….I just want to watch him sleep….sighhhhhh

Try and get some rest yourself, he’s gonna be just fine. Check with the Vet in the morning as some of his meds may have to be cut back.
Hang in there! Remember, Garry isnt worried about a thing and could care less about any old doctor’s report. Also remember, that sometimes and upset tummy is exactly that, an upset tummy. The vet big give himself to to coat his stomach and he probably needs to be on a bland diet for a couple of days.
Going to check your blog in the morning and see how things are going. And by the way, the pictures in your previous post are just adorable. He is so handsome!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I’m just SO GLAD I had this week off from work to monitor him and try to “get it right” as far as the pills and his belly go. He is a resilient boy who is inadvertently teaching his Mom a thing or two about perseverance.
I gave him ALL his early/empty belly pills this am, and then he got white rice, boiled chicken and a bit of kibble too. So far, so good; he’s snoring by my feet as I type, so I’m guessing we’re good. Sighhhhhh. Back to school work, and actual SCHOOL in two days!
It’s always worrisome when they throw up. What kind of pills does he get? Maybe if it is the pills causing tummy upset, you could give him some Pepcid – Nitro takes that, and he also takes cerenia that helps with nausea. Yep, a bland diet for a couple days could help. Let us know how he does.

Here are the new pills: Omepreazole (20 mg) 1 a day before food, Doxyycycline Hyclate (100 mg) 2 a day before food, and finally as of now, Rimadyl (1.5 mg) with/after food. Those are the new meds, and yes, he does thankfully have a script for cerenia (but good to know Pepcid could perhaps replace it?)
I got up, naturally and rested, boiled him some more white rice, and mixed that in with 1/4 cup of his kibble (Canadae), and the last of the boiled whitechicken breast. At least he’s got two trays of the chicken water frozen and waiting, at least to keep him hydrated, which my heart tells me is the best of all things.
This morning I did his “cocktail” differently, again. Instead of spacing it through the day, I gave him everything he could have on an empty belly. He ate fresh warm white rice with 1/4 or more of the chicken and 1/4 of his kibble. So far so good. Paw toes crossed.
Okay, keep getting your belly straightened out hansome Garry! 🙂 the chicken and rice should help, as well as the yummy chicken water! Of course, all that loving and spoiling helps the most!!
